February should be our last cold month before we head into the golf season. January seemed to go by fast with the cold temps
and good amounts of rain. This month may have cold mornings forcing us to have delayed starts and possible shotgun starts if
needed. Communication from the golf shop will be delivered via email to our membership.
In it’s 2nd month, our Member Birthday Rewards Program will go through the 2024 calendar year. January featured 9 members
using this program. This program offers an additional 20% off the Brickyard Member Price to members during their birthday
month. This applies to in stock merchandise, one time purchase during your birthday month, and limited to one item or one
dozen golf balls. Excludes price protected merchandise.
I attended the 2024 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida the last week of January. The show was well attended with
nearly 8,000 PGA Golf Professionals, 944 Golf Vendors and many others contributing to the 4-billion-dollar global industry. I
picked up a few training aids for us to use to improve our putting. The tremendous support that our club members used in golf
shop purchases allowed us to turn the merchandise 4 times keeping it fresh and available all year long. We will continue with
our current apparel and equipment vendors this season. Winter season SALES will begin in the second week of February featuring most of our long-sleeved apparel and seasoned golf equipment marked down for quick sales.
We had an outstanding 2023 PGA Junior League, and we anticipate our 2024 Brickyard PGA Junior League to be even better. Registration will begin March 1st, 2024. Girls and Boys 15 and under are welcome to sign up. The entry fee will be $200 per junior for members and $300 per junior for non-members. This fee goes to the PGA Golf Staff “Derek Lafferty & Blair Mitchell & two other certified PGA instructors”, for golf instruction, on-course golf practice, introduction to the rules of golf weekly, home and away matches against Houston Lake Country Club and Southern Landings, just to name a few, various program expenses and end of season Pizza Party. The PGA Junior League has a one-time $99 registration fee per player in addition to that; each family will be responsible for completing online. Season starts April 1, 2024, and goes through July 31, 2024. The Player & Parent meeting will be held Sunday March 10th at 3pm in the Clubhouse. The 1st Practice will be held Thursday April 4th from 4-6pm.
We most likely will implement more best practices for our instructors to teach our junior golfers. We are looking forward to a wonderful season with you all. February 11th will feature the Super Bowl Scramble. February 14th, the golf shop will start accepting signups for the Hutch Cup 2-Man Teams. This event will run from March through August. De-
tails will be posted at the golf shop and emailed out as well. March is filled with this awesome member benefit featuring three Club Fitting Days. Ping will be here March 15th , Titleist on March 19th , TaylorMade on March 22nd. All sessions will be 11am-4pm. Mizuno will be our other club fitting vendor and their date will be announced in the coming days.
The Member Golf Clinics begin in March with details & times posted in the March newsletter. Golf lessons are available for the membership either by a single lesson or through a lesson package. See Derek or Blair for details. Beginning in March, I will be teeing it and playing a round of golf with the members; I will be doing this on a more regular basis.
